Lithology
The lithology tab describes the different types of formations. If the well runs through salt layers, it will significantly affect the temperature performance of the well.
¶ Defining Salt Sections
In this tab, the well designer can enter information about the depths of any salt layers in the formation. This information is used only in the thermal analysis module. If no information is entered here, Shale is assumed throughout.
In regions where the inclination is greater than 90°, the labels for the salt layers on the schematic may be inaccurate due to imprecision in estimating an MD from a TVD.
