¶ WCD: Burst Level 1
This load evaluates the burst load during shut-in with a full hydrocarbon gradient. Temperature and pressure assumptions for this load are:
- Internal pressure - productive formation pressure minus hydrocarbon gradient to mudline.
- External pressure - seawater hydrostatic at the mudline casing hanger seal, original fluid density from hanger seal to top of cement (TOC) and pore pressure below TOC in the open hole section.
- Temperature - Undisturbed

This diagram shows an example of internal and external pressure profiles of a Level 1 WCD Burst load. In (A), the TOC is deeper than the prior shoe, whereas in (B) the TOC is shallower than the prior shoe.
