StrinGnosis® has a typical listing of functions available in the File menu. They are:
- Open
- New
- Save
- Save As
- Exit
A list of recently opened files appears below these commands.
If there is a StrinGnosis® file already open, a dialog box appears asking the well designer whether to save the current file. Once this dialog box is closed, StrinGnosis® opens an Explorer window where the well designer can select an existing StrinGnosis® (.strng) file to open.
Opens a new StrinGnosis® file.
StrinGnosis® saves the file to the current directory. Note: The initial save defaults to "Save As".
StrinGnosis® opens an Explorer window where the well designer can name and save the file to a chosen directory.
- Database path - Allows the well designer to select the database that StrinGnosis® will use. This path is defined at installation and will nearly never need to be changed.
- Show summary after completed stress calculations - Here you can disable and re-enable the summary notification window that appears after stress calculations are run. It shows the names of the laods that were run, how many succedded or failed, and an error message in case of failure.
- Use June 2018 API Collapse Yield Strength Calculation - If enabled, the stress calculations will calculate collapse yield strength according to API TR 5C3, 7th Ed. If unchecked, collapse strength will be computed using the tension adjustment used in previous releasesm and the collapse load will be computed with geometric adjustment.
collapse = Po - Pi * (1 - 2 T / OD)
Even if enabled, the geometric adjustment is not used on WCD (BSEE) loads, nor at depths where a completion tool is present.
